McMansions in the New York 'burbs

I assume the house on the left is being singled out as a McMansion.  I doubt it would have been singled out if it were less ostentatious and followed the neighborhood's architectural style.  This house isn't "too big," in other words; it's too showy, with bad architecture to boot.

Yeah, I think it's more like the original definition of a McMansion. An oversized house built in some sort of neo-traditional style for people with bad taste.

It does stick out but it is beautiful. I would rather live there than the horrible houses next to it.
